The Black Keys are an American rock duo that were formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001. This legendary duo consists of Dan Auerbach who is on guitar and vocals and Patrick Carney who's on drums. This band began as an independent act as they were recording music in basements and self-producing their own records. They formed this group after dropping out of college and they eventually emerged as one of the most popular garage rock artists during a second wave of the genre's revival.
They signed with Indie Label Alive and then went on to release their debut album the “Big Come Up” in 2002 which earned them a new record deal with a new label. Over the next decade they built up an insane underground fan base through the touring of small clubs, frequent album releases, appearances at music festivals and even broad licensing of their songs. Their third album “Rubber Factory” was released in 2004 and received critical acclaim which in turn boosted the band's profile immensely.
The Black Keys breakthrough came in 2010 with the album “Brothers” which alongside with its popular single “Tighten up” won 3 Grammy Awards. How insane is that! The follow up album “El Camino” released in 2011 and received critical acclaim as well as peaking at the number two position on the Billboard top 200 chart. This led to their first arena concert tour of their career, they named the tour the El Camino tour.
In 2014 they released their eighth album turning blue which became their first number one record. They then ended up taking a break until 2019 and in 2022 they released their 11th album Dropout boogie”. The year 2024 then saw them release the single “Beautiful People (stay high) which was taken from their 12th studio album “Ohio Players”. If you'd like to see a sneak peek of what you're in for during this performance then have a look at the link below. “Beautiful people” and its album was well received with reviews saying that ‘they found their creative musical joy again’.
