Jo Dee Messina is a country music artist that lives in the hearts of all country fans. She has always had a love for all things music and has a special place for country! By the age of 16 she was singing in local clubs whilst her brother and sister were providing backup on drums and guitar for her. They continued on like this until she moved to Nashville at the age of 19 where she then went on her own and entered talent competitions whilst working small jobs on the side.

She won one of the talent competitions and this led to regular gigs on the radio show, Live at Libby’s, which caught the attention of a producer. This is where her career really took off. She debuted in 1996 with the single “Heads Carolina, Tails California”. This album was gold certified by the RIAA. She performed over 200 shows in 1996 after her songs became a hit. Her second album “I’m Alright” produced five top-10 country hits between 1998 and 1999 and sold over one million copies in America alone! She then became one of the most successful new female artists of the 1990s.

Jo Dee Messina has six number one singles on the billboard country music charts. She has been honoured by the country music association as well as the academy of country music. Jo Dee has also been nominated for two Grammy awards and she was also the first female country artist to score three multiple week number one songs from the same album. She also has two platinum certified albums and three gold certified albums both by the RIAA. She has sold over five million records worldwide, how insane is that?!
