Darius Rucker is a multi-award winning and insanely talented American singer, songwriter and musician. If you dint already know him from his solo career you may know him from the group he founded, Hootie and the blowfish, which since 1984 has released five studio albums with Darius Rucker as a member and they have charted six top forty hits on the billboard hot 100 charts. 

His debut solo album was an R&B record titled “Back to then” which reached the number forty-three position on the US top R&B albums chart. He then went on to sign as a country singer six years later in 208 and released his second album “Learn to Live”. This album was met with praises as its first single peaked at number one on the hot country songs charts. This was the first song peak at number one by an artist of colour since Charley Pridein in 1983. This was followed by three similarly successful singles as well.

In 2009, Darius Rucker became the first American of colour to win the new artist award from the Country Music Association and he was also the second to win any award from the Country Music Association. “Learn To Live” was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America or better known as the RIAA, by the end of 2009 this album had gone on to be certified platinum. 

He has many awards under his belt including the one her received in May of 2013, Darius Rucker won a Grammy award for Best Country Solo Performance. 2018 saw him winning a Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award and in 2023 he won the Country Music Awards Foundation Humanitarian Award, and he also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame! With all of these under his belt he still stays humble and supports charities when and where possible.
