Gerardo Ortiz Tickets
Choctaw Casino & Resort | Durant, Oklahoma
A summer night full of norteño music and corridos is headed to Durant Oklahoma with the presence of one of the most important men in the genre, Gerardo Ortiz. He’ll be headlining an event at the Choctaw Grand Theater on Friday 7th, June 2024. Loud sing alongs and the unmistakable thumping of the tambora are going to be present on that Friday for sure. Ortiz is still on tour promoting his most recent album, No Tengo Rival, but he’ll still bust out some of his classics that fans love.
Aldo Trujillo will accompany Ortiz on the night. To say that he’s one of the up-and-coming faces in Mexican regional music would be a bit of an understatement. He’s already headlining events in his own right throughout other American cities. His inclusion on the Friday night in June at the Choctaw casino really rounds out the entire event quite nicely.
This is set to be Ortiz’s only stop near Oklahoma or even Texas at least throughout the summer months. Some of the best seats in the house are already getting taken. Although one of the great things about the Choctaw Grand Theater is that you’ll have a great view regardless, you don’t miss out on a chance to see one of the top names in Norteño music. Gerardo Ortiz’s rise to fame was much different than what you would expect from a typical norteño or regional Mexican music singer. The Pasadena-born Ortiz went back to his parent’s homeland at a very young age to take part in the talent show Codigo Fama (One of the Mexican versions of American Idol that popped up in those years) when he was only 12 years old. Since then, he’s been a full-time professional performer. That’s something that will likely be on display at the Choctaw Grand Theater on Friday 7th, June 2024.
Ortiz has been at the top of norteño music for almost 15 years now. In his greatest hit, “Tranquilito,” he shares the recipe for success, talking about his slow rise to fame and going at his own pace. Many of his hits are also corridos, referencing the lives of popular characters in Mexican folklore. He wouldn’t be at the very top of norteño music if he didn’t sing about ladies, parties, and getting drunk. These last few songs are typically the ones that pump up the crowd the most and get them to sing along at the casino in Durant.
Gerardo is taking a unique approach to his tour in 2024. Most norteño singers tend to do a tour of Mexico and then head over to the US when some of the popular festivals and fairs in Mexico dry up. Ortiz, however, is going to be crossing the border quite a few times throughout the summer. His presence in Durant, Oklahoma, on June 7th surprised many fans.
The best experience to see Gerardo Ortiz and Aldo Trujillo at the Choctaw Grand Theater is likely going to be in the tables area next to the stage. You’ll have more room to get up and sing along with some of these singers’ popular corridos. It’s Durant, Oklahoma, not Vegas, so prices for these tickets aren’t out of this world. You can buy a table seat for incredibly low prices. June 7th can be a great opportunity to kick off a weekend with one of the top names in Mexican regional music that can continue at the casino in the next few days! Seeing Ortiz in Mexico is not as accessible as it will be in Durant. Tickets are going fast, though, so it can be a good idea to make those purchases quickly.
